By Nicholas Tan Office or Waiting Room Redesign If you have an office, waiting room, or reception area for your business, get rid of all magazines and replace them with testimonials and success story books, before and after photo albums, and other publications designed to advance the sale. Replace your wall paintings with framed testimonials. Give them an avalanche of proof! Pre-paid Services Pre-paid memberships have been sold successfully by many businesses, such as cosmetic surgeons, chiropractors, dental services, martial arts schools, photographers, restaurants, you name it. The idea is to offer a bundle of services or products that would cost far more if purchased separately over time than if purchased pre-paid up front. Reference USA I mentioned this above in the Direct Mail topic, but its worth its own topic. Why? Because if you have a library card, chances are you can access it for free. I dont pay the annual thousands of dollars required to access the site and compile lists of all sorts, because my local Newington library subscribes to it. My free library card gets me in for free. http://www.referenceusa.com Creative Business Cards Besides using both sides of your business cards and putting a compelling benefits-oriented message on it, there are many other creative ways to put your business card to work for you. Of course, odd-shaped and rolodex-styled cards stick out from the crowd as well. One real estate agent in California hands an extra three bucks and a business card to the toll collector as he crosses the bridge into San Francisco. He tells the toll collector that he wants to pay for the driver behind him, and asks him to give the driver his business card. Nine out of ten times, the driver calls, at least to say thank you. Hes sold several expensive homes that way as a result. A good lead generation device is to offer a free report or other gift on the back of the card. Then just distribute them where your prospects live. At my local Munsons Chocolates outlet, Sales Manager Jim Florence has his business card fully imprinted with the company logo, name, phone number, and email address made out ofyou guessed itCHOCOLATE! How To Get More Mileage Out of Your Old Mattress

June 19th, 2008 by stevenahazenboom

By Terry McGee I like a firm mattress, but the other day I noticed that my back would hurt a little in the mornings and sometimes my legs. Even though I like the strong support of a firm mattress, if I lay in the same position too long, it would cause body aches. You would think the obvious solution would be to go looking for a new mattress, right? Wrong! Who wants to spend more money and replace a perfectly good mattress set? Why not examine the problem closer and see if we can come up with a solution. I was shopping and noticed some memory foam pillows and a queen size 1 inch thick memory foam pad. This could be the solution to all my problems. I have been having neck problems anyway, and even had to go to the doctor. He said to be sure to keep the neck straight, because a crook in the neck can cause strains. The pain was pretty bad. I am taking teatments now to fix the problem, while at the same time trying to prevent it from happening again. So I opted for the memory foam. At first I wondered if I should get a thicker piece, like 4 inches thick. But I remembered that if you go too thick you sink in a lot and have trouble turning over, because you are rolling out of a hole. This is the biggest complaint, I ever heard about memory foam mattresses when I was a mattress salesman. So I opted for the 1 inch size with two traditional shaped memory foam pillows. The total cost was $115 at a well-known department store. Not a bad price for fixing a health issue. Sometimes just a little adjustment can go a long way to solving complex problems. My assumptions were correct. The memory foam pillows kept my neck straight and the memory foam pad added just the right amount of padding to give me comfort, remove the body aches and still maintain a firm feel that I like. You may want to consider this approach instead of buying a new mattress set. What I did was take my firm mattress and upgrade it to a modest plush mattress. The pad has its own washable cover and I placed it under the fitted sheet, which holds it in place. I was so happy with the feel and performance of the memory pad and pillows and I know it was a very cost effective way to solve my problem. You will find memory foam used by many manufacturers for some of the padding layers in modern mattresses. Memory foam is a quality foam that returns to its original shape and should last a good long time, thus solving your problem well into the future. Perhaps you could get 25% more life out of your old mattress this way without sacrificing comfort. Free Vacation OfferAuthor Terry L. McGee resides in West Virginia with Wife Valerie. Weight Loss Tips: Asking Better Questions for Faster Weight Loss

June 15th, 2008 by stevenahazenboom

By Kathryn Martyn, M.NLP The reason EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) (see resource box below) can be very effective for making rapid change in your life is because they address the real issue. There is no endless analysis and trying to figure out why you do something or why something happens. Why ask why? It doesn’t matter why. If you have an issue, you have an issue. The why is not important. Uncovering the why isn’t going to solve anything, in fact, the endless seeking of answers allows us to excuse bad behavior in ourselves and others. Coming up with reasons why rarely works because the tendency never to be convinced begins, “Are you sure? Maybe it’s something else?” and off we go on another snipe hunt. (The snipe is a made-up thing children often are tricked into on a snipe hunt (snipe hunting is a children’s game where the unsuspecting child is told to seek something that the other’s know doesn’t really exist). Why We Need To Know Why If you were hurt by the actions of another you may believe you’ll never get past it without knowing why. That’s not true. The other person may not know why, so how can you? You may think with a why you could then explain the bad behavior away, but there is no justifiable reason for being treated poorly. None. Someone else’s personal problems does not give them the right to treat others badly. Asking why may seem to ease the emotional upset but it’s an exercise in futility. You’ll never know for sure, and it begins the endless cycle trying to answer unanswerable questions. Why doesn’t matter. Start working on the here and now. Stop asking WHY, and start asking HOW or WHAT. How can I make things better for myself and my family? How can I feel better? How can I bring myself back to better health? What can I do today that will bring me closer to my goal? How and why questions give your subconscious mind something to work with. It’s a bit like a puzzle and the subconscious mind loves puzzles. When a good idea pops into your mind it’s your subconscious presenting an idea in answer to your earlier “how” or “what” question. Your subconscious will help when you give it better questions. Changing the How: Asking Better Questions Think of at least three How or Why questions, and write them down. Questions you may have previously been asking as Why questions, and when you catch yourself saying why, change it to how or what: “Why am I fat” becomes, “What can I do differently to lose 10 pounds?” “Why can’t I lose this weight,” becomes, “How can I adjust my patterns to support losing the weight I want?” Why questions can only be answered with further evidence that you can’t or don’t think you can. In other words, asking yourself why questions causes your brain to try to come up with answers or evidence to prove why. If you ask, “Why can’t I lose any weight?” your brain will helpfully put tempting foods, party plans, magazine covers with food, invitations out, etc. in front of you all day long. It’s providing you answers of exactly why. That’s not what you want. You want ideas for what to do differently (what questions are good too) or how to change. Ask how, what, where or even when, but leave why alone. Read these aloud and see what you think. If this makes sense to you, try it. If you think it’s the darndest dumb thing you’ve ever heard, take a pass. You’re free to take the ideas you like and put them to use and toss the rest aside. That’s the fun of designing an eating style that works for you and helps you support your goals. “I’ll never be able to stop eating …” (not helpful thinking) becomes “How can I start eating better?” “I hate my thighs” becomes “What exercises can I try to change my legs?” “Even if I lose this weight, I’ll never be able to keep it off.” becomes “What can I do differently this time?” Start asking better questions and you’re bound to start getting better answers. ~~ Kathryn Martyn, Master NLP Practitioner, EFT counselor, Weight Loss Coach, owner of One More Bite Weight Loss is the author of “Changing Beliefs, Your First Step to Permanent Weight Loss.” Learn to use Kathryn’s One More Bite Approach with The Daily Bites: Mini lessons in using EFT for weight loss http://www.OneMoreBite-WeightLoss.com/getnews.html Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Kathryn_Martyn,_M.NLP http://EzineArticles.com/?Weight-Loss-Tips:-Asking-Better-Questions-for-Faster-Weight-Loss&id=357808 bad credit loans online long term personal loans for bad credit unsecured loan 5000 no turn down personal loans

Nasal Spray-Heroin For the Common Man

June 7th, 2008 by stevenahazenboom

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jimmy_Jones] Jimmy Jones Before an intervention is called, I will go ahead and openly admit that I have a problem. I am addicted to over the counter nasal spray. Not because I have a killer sinus problem but because every time I fall off the wagon, the congestion returns with vengeance, blocking my nasal passages, stifling my sleep, and overall, decreasing my quality of life. Summarizing from last weeks Greys Anatomy, the medical term of my condition is Rhinitis Medicamentosa. This is quite different from Allergic Rhinitis for the onset of the condition is the continuous usage of OTC nasal sprays, as opposed to AR, which is a blockage of the nasal passage due to a common allergen. Most of OTC nasal sprays come in one of two different flavors; Oxymetazoline and Phenylepherine. Oxymetazoline is the most common active ingredient (as found in Afrin) while Phenylepherine comes in second (as found in 4-Way Nasal Spray). My troubles started back in early May. I had begun an intensive weight training program and had been making good progress towards eliminating body fat while gaining muscle and strength. But coupled with my intense workouts, a tight schedule at work, a flurry of “oh shit” home repairs, and ignoring my blood pressure medicine, I quickly found my head feeling like it was going to explode, and I was hospitalized soon thereafter. Slowly through the usage of a combination of drugs, my blood pressure came back down. But I started to realize another issue; I was still receiving headaches. Not the same headache that I had experienced earlier (frequent blood pressure checks confirmed this), but more of a sinus pressured pain. The intensity would originate from the top of the nose to around the eye-brow and would work its way throughout the top of my head. It was as if someone squeezing the top of my forehead. The pain always intensified after nasal spray usage, and would weaken as the day progressed. Usually the pain would wear off after a period of 12-13 hours. The congestion always persisted even after the headaches died down. This lead me to believe that the headaches were induced by the nasal spray. I finally broke down and purchased the Rhinostat titration system. The premise behind a titration system is that you utilize the substance as needed, and when the liquid reaches a certain point in the bottle, you add a dilutent to reduce the contents of the active ingredient. The Rhinostat system appeared to work fairly well in the beginning. The bottle is a peculiar design and didnt seem to penetrate my nasal passages the way a conventional nasal spray bottle did. The dosage of the decongestant is quite small, so if you find yourself frequently using your nasal spray, the Rhinostat system is going to become diluted quite quickly. Unfortunately the dilution of the system outpaced the withdrawal of my symptoms. In the end, I was left with a fully diluted solution and still a stuffy nose. In order to sleep, I relapsed. I have tried several decongestant products since the Rhinostat system, and all have failed to clear my passageways. Here are the products Ive tried in attempt to alleviate congestion (all of the products do not contain Oxymetazoline or Phenylepherine) SinusbusterSnoreStop NasoSprayColloidal Silver Nasal Spray by Source Naturals Sinus and Allergy Relief Nasal Spray by bioAllers My Own Titration System Since I was unsuccessful in finding a solution that allowed me to sleep in peace, I decided to create my own titration system that I could control the dosages. Start with a full bottle of nasal spray and every time the fluid level reaches half, fill in the rest of the fluid level with Saline nose spray. BUT, not just any saline nasal spray. Dont go the cheap route on this; make sure that saline solution does not contain benzalkonium chloride (e.g. [http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=301459&navAction=jump&navCount=1&id=prod1068924] http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=301459&navAction=jump&navCount=1&id=prod1068924 ). Benzalkonium chloride has been shown to further increase the rebound effect. The Conclusion So far, I still get somewhat congested and I can feel my sinuses swell up from time to time, but I think the intensity is slowing diminishing. Ive heard that it takes 4-7 days to withdrawal cold-turkey, so utilizing a titration system I can reasonably expect double that time-frame before I can draw any real conclusions. I see an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat specialist) tomorrow. While I am skeptical that hell have any real insight besides the standard “stop using the stuff!”, Ill be sure to follow-up if he has any better solutions. Update (9/4/06 10:11pm) After further research, Ive discovered that some individuals have had success with a relatively new antihistamine called title=Astelin [http://www.astelin.com/ ] Astelin that doesnt contain any steroids, Oxymetazoline or Phenylepherine. My ear, nose and throat doctor was able to provide me a months sample. A word of warning, Astelin is extremely bitter and even with a big gulf of mouthwash, dont be suprised when the aftertaste remains. The substance has a sedative effect, and after a liberal dose, definitely made me sleepy. As a decongestant, it was mildly effective. My nasal passages opened up a bit, but by the time I had awakened in the morning, my stuffy nose had returned. Over usage of the medication only seemed to worsen my congestive issues. 3-4 pumps appeared to be the optimal dosage for effectiveness. MRSA and Essential Oils - their Role in the Fight Against MRSA?

June 1st, 2008 by stevenahazenboom

By Dr Gillian Hale Aromatherapy the therapeutic use of essential oils (highly concentrated natural plant products) has been used traditionally to help combat many disorders, ranging from mild skin complaints (e.g. insect bites, mild burns) to more complex conditions such hypertension as stress. Evidence for the efficacy of essential oils in these conditions has, however, tended to be largely anecdotal, but medical research is now beginning to show that some essential oils may indeed have properties that could be useful medically. Recent studies suggest that one area in which essential oils could possibly have a role is in the fight against MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). MRSA - Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is a bacterium that can be found as part of the normal flora of bacteria on some peoples skin and in their noses, where it seems to cause no major problems. However, if it gets inside the body, for instance under the skin or into the lungs, it can cause infections. Such infections are usually treated using antibiotics. MRSA, however, is a type of S. aureus that has become resistant to antibiotics, and can therefore give rise to infections that are much harder to treat. MRSA appears to be spread mainly through direct, skin-to-skin contact, largely by healthcare workers failing to clean their hands effectively before and after contact with an MRSA-positive patient and/or the contaminated environment. Therefore, one of the priorities for preventing the spread of the organism is improved hygiene. One study has shown that something as simple as hand-washing with an alcohol-based disinfectant among carers can effectively reduce the spread of MRSA.(1) Those infected with MRSA can also take hygiene precautions to reduce their risk of spreading the infection, such as daily baths or showers with an antiseptic body wash, use of a disinfectant dusting powder after bathing and drying, and washing hair twice weekly with an antiseptic shampoo. As MRSA can live in the nose, nasal ointments containing the antibiotic, mupirocin, are also available. However, some strains of MRSA now appear to have developed resistance to this agent. Despite improvements in hygiene, however, MRSA continues to pose a threat to patients in hospital and in the community (particularly those who are already ill, the elderly and those in long-term care), and new ways are constantly being sought to reduce the spread of MRSA. A number of recent studies appear to suggest that certain essential oils may be effective in preventing the spread of the organism. In a recent report, researchers at the University of Manchester found that the use of three essential oils killed MRSA rapidly and effectively in the laboratory.(2) The oils were also effective against other infectious agents commonly found in hospitals, including E. coli (Escherichia coli). The researchers suggest that the oils could be blended into soaps, handwashes and shampoos, which could be used in hospital hygiene regimens to prevent the spread of such infections. Funding for further research is now being sought. Although the essential oils identified in this study (2) have not yet been named, other research has been published which identifies a number of essential oils that may be effective against MRSA. Tea tree essential oil, in particular, appears a promising candidate, either alone or in combination with other essential oils. Two controlled studies have shown that use of tea tree oil in nasal ointments, body washes and creams was as effective as routine care in the elimination of MRSA.(3,4) In another study, combinations of patchouli, tea tree, geranium, lavender essential oils and grapefruit seed extract were found to be effective against MRSA,(5) and the same group of researchers have also developed a blend of essential oils, which includes tea tree oil, encased in a shell of dead yeast cells, which attacks and kills MRSA. Clinical trials of this new treatment, which can be included in wound dressings, are about to start on 40 burns patients who have been diagnosed as having MRSA on their skin.(6) Lavender is another essential oil that has been shown to have efficacy against MRSA.(7) Activity was also shown against another bacterium that is resistant to antibiotics vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium.(7) Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is a growing medical problem, fuelled by years of overuse and misuse of these agents by healthcare providers. Alternative interventions with proven efficacy that would enable the use of antibiotics to be reduced can only be regarded positively. These studies suggesting a role for essential oils in the fight against MRSA are still under investigation, but results to date are promising. Further developments are eagerly awaited. Why You Should Increase Your Metabolism For Effective Weight Loss

May 29th, 2008 by stevenahazenboom

By Mahesh Bhat Did you know that “boosting metabolism” is a scientifically proven best weight loss method? If your metabolic rate is high then your body will burn more calories and vice-versa. So if you want to lose weight you need to speed up your metabolism! The dictionary defines metabolism as the sum of all biochemical processes involved in life, or the sustaining of life. In application concerning our health, metabolism is related to the intake and use of food. In reference to the case in point it is our ability to utilize our food to the fullest extent. Some people have really high rates of metabolism. In other words, when they consume food, their bodies burn it up almost as fast as then consume it. Then there are those of use who use our food intake so slowly, as to not even notice that we’re burning calories. These people who burn quickly are often slim and trim, the people who burn more slowly are the people with a tendency toward obesity. The body’s metabolism is a unique process for each individual person. We all use our calories at different rates, with different results. Our metabolism, like our fingerprints is unique to each of us. But the need to understand and accommodate this metabolism is an issue that we all face. All of this metabolic process is related to our calorie intake, our vitamin and nutrition needs, our thyroid and endocrine production, and how well all of these processes come together. For years, people have sought ways to raise the metabolic rate. If you can raise someone’s metabolic rate, you are then better able to control the burn of calories, especially for overweight or obese people. This would make the goal of better or improved health a much easier reality for those people. Efforts to date have produced very little results. There are foods that we can consume that naturally raise our metabolic rate, but not to a great extent. What we need is a way to directly alter the rate. We need to be able to raise our metabolism to a point where we can actually see a benefit. What determines our metabolic rate, as far as our genetics? Generally, we tend to inherit the same tendencies for metabolic rates, body frames, and other related body functions from our parents. Thus, the origin of “well, she comes from big people; naturally she’s going to be big”. Right now, the greatest results in raising our metabolism come from exercise and building our muscle mass, while reducing our body fat. Adding more muscle to the body, in turn causes us to burn more calories, and this helps to elevate our metabolic rate. Also there are some very good dietary supplements which help to raise metabolic rate. However pills should be only used as a last option. Our metabolism functions also depend on how well we have taken care of our nutritional needs. The process of burning calories and creating energy is a delicate one, and one which must be carefully tended, or it can become imbalanced. It is often through these natural imbalances that we tend to “inherit’ our metabolic rate. I believe through careful analysis, increasing the metabolic rate is the ultimate solution for optimal weight loss. And if you are very serious about losing weight I recommend you to give a miss to all those so called greatest, latest and hottest diet programs which are very expensive; instead move a step towards increasing your metabolism! The A To Z Guide For Your Wedding Day

May 26th, 2008 by stevenahazenboom

By Declan Tobin Attendants Attendants, include the best man, Bridesmaid, ushers, and groomsmen. Generally any people with some sort of responsibility on the big day. How many attendants are up to you but you need to consider the size of the church and your budget for the outfits and gifts. You need to rely on these for some of the organization of the day so choose carefully, the last thing you need is someone irresponsible in charge of the rings or any important tasks your require. Budget Every wedding has a budget be it a no hold bar white wedding extravaganza or a low-key smaller affair both can be a beautiful fun day for everyone. There are many ways to cut the cost on the big day with out compromising on style and atmosphere. You can do a lot of the organizing yourself, friends and family are always there to help with things like the video camera and helping to drive guests from the ceremony to the after party. Cake This is another important feature; as the cake will appear in the “cutting of the cake” photograph another staple of the wedding album. The flowers and bridesmaids out fits will also influence the style and color of the cake you do not have to settle for fruitcake though as there are endless fillings to choose from, this can also double as desert if you are on a tight budget. Dress The dress is going to be the center of attention for the whole wedding. The perfect dress should make the bride feel and look beautiful. This is achieved by a well-fitted dress that is flattering to the figure. Most importantly the dress should be comfortable as you will be wearing it all day long through out dinner and also dancing the night away, if you spend the day pulling and adjusting your dress this could ruin your whole day. Remember a happy bride will look beautiful either way. Entertainment The entertainment you choose for the after ceremony party should vary depending on what type of weeding your going for, from the classical stringed quartet to the full on wedding band. Any professional entertainment will eat into your budget but whatever you choose make sure you go to see them play before your big day as you do want your guests to have a good time and not spend the evening cringing at a nightmare wedding singer. Flowers The bridesmaids outfits will set the trend for the colors of the flowers, so keep this in mind when choosing the color theme. These can range from the most flamboyant bouquet to the simplest white lilies. The most important being the brides bouquet as this will feature in most of the wedding photographs so dont skimp on this. Honeymoon This will be the most extravagant holiday you ever had. Depending on what you can afford push the boat out and spoil yourself. Weather it be a five star in Mauritius or a Weekend in a five star hotel this is your quality time as man and wife and should be as comfortable and enjoyable as possible so dont hold back. Invitations The Invitations are the first taste the guests will get of your wedding so they should reflect what type of wedding its going to be Formal/Informal. Dont be afraid to be different this is your chance to be creative and making your own handmade cards is a nice touch and is also easy on the wallet. Jewelry You can go for diamante for that sparkly feel of pearl for the more understated bride, always remember whatever stones you choose the theme should run through out. Jewelry is also a nice thank you gift for the bridesmaids a nice matching necklaces for the brides to wear on the wedding day will go down well and you dont have to break the bank. Another special touch if possible is personally designed wedding bands most jewelers will do this but be expected to pay a bit more. Love You have done the most important part of the wedding day and that is finding each other and falling in love. With out you two this day would not be happening, therefore its your special day to celebrate your love for each other. After the ceremony eat drink and be merry, enjoy the evening and have fun after all it will be both of you that will remember this day the most and you want to have loving happy memories with no stress. So let your hair down and dance the night away. Marriage There is also the legal aspects of marriage that are important as well as the spiritual, make sure you have all your legal requirements met and all your paper work in place well in advance of the wedding date, get all this out of the way first and this leaves plenty of time to concentrate on the more important enjoyable things. Outdoor wedding Oh what a wonderful day it would be, a beautiful sunny garden, a big white marquee adorned with lilies and trinkets, music, dancing all sounds beautiful. Hiring a marquee for the day is a really great idea if you live in a place were the weather permits. If not I wouldnt take the chance as a mud ridden lawn with cold wet guests doesnt sound as romantic. Also keep in mind the hiring of cutlery, crockery, heating, lights, toilets etc. all adds up. Photography The photographs are going to be the lasting feature of you big day so you want them to be as fabulous as possible. Take recommendations from friends and people who have recently got married, visit the photographers studio and view his work. All photographers have a different style of photography so discuss carefully what you want. Most photographers wont allow you to keep the negatives of the wedding pictures so make sure you have some relatives take a camera as the more photos you order from the photographer the more you pay. Reception Your reception venue will be dictated by where you live, the amount of guests you are having and the style of wedding you want. You have a choice of hotel, outdoor marquee or to be slightly different you can choose a stately home or castle. Or why not run away from it all to a romantic holiday island with close friends and family. Skin You will want beautiful silky skin to match your beautiful new gown on that special day, so start taking care of your skin a couple of months before hand with some deep cleansing and exfoliating facials. We tend to forget the rest of the body so keep that back, neck and chest area glowing with regular exfoliating body scrubs and lashings of body cream this will ensure that J lo glow on the big day. When the day arrives treat your self to your favorite scented body lotion and load on generously to keep you smelling good enough to eat all day long. Undies Your dress will more or less decide what undies you require. A silicon based stick on bra for the strapless brides will make any bosom defy gravity. Or a steamy lace all in one will slim down your waistline. The store where you bought your wedding dress can advise on the appropriate type of underwear for your dress. Remember go for what makes you look good in the dress you can always change into something a little more uncomfortable later on. Vows Writing your own vows is a good idea if you want to give the ceremony a little more of a personal feel. Dont hide away from this as every ones a sucker for romance and it will add a certain intimacy to the ceremony. Dont forget to run these vows by the officiate before the big day to make sure they are happy to include them in the proceedings. Winning Smile There will be lots of kisses and smiling photos on the day so your lips and smile must be in tiptop shape. Firstly make sure there is no sign of a flaky smile, the night before apply some petroleum jelly to the lips and gently rub with an old tooth brush this will leave smooth soft lips ready for your favorite shade of color. Also visiting the dentist a few weeks before and getting your teeth cleaned and polished is a necessity for a bling bling smile. Yes The whole wedding day is about two people saying yes. Yes to a lifetime partnership with each other, through the hard times as well as the good. Yes to loving each other through thick and thin. Yes is the most important word in the ceremony so savor the moment as it is upon this word the rest of your lives will be built. Zzzzzz Catching some Zzzzz the night before the wedding is essential. How to Find, Select, and Afford a Wedding Photographer

May 18th, 2008 by stevenahazenboom

By Dain Binder You are engaged and one of the most important days in your life is fast approaching. Your wedding day will be filled with happiness and emotion. Family and friends will be there; some you have not seen in many years. It will be a wonderful day for you to remember and share. There will be so many things going on of which most you will not even know about until you look at the wedding photographs. Choosing a photographer may be a difficult and daunting task; and affording it may be even more cumbersome. You may be apt to ask a friend or relative to photograph it for you; this is surely to be a bad idea for many reasons. A professional wedding photographer knows how to capture all the moments of your wedding day with the best results by having years of experience and photography knowledge. Finding a wedding photographer is not difficult because there are so many. There are many ways to go about finding one and many things you should know. The best way of course is to be referred from another wedding couple that recently had their wedding photographed by a specific photographer. Notice I said photographer not business or studio. Your decision should be based off of one photographers work; not the work of a group or large wedding photography studio with multiple photographers. Always check who will be photographing your wedding. There are many other ways to find wedding photographers including the phone book, newspapers, billboards, and of course the internet. Over 70% of all brides and grooms search for wedding professionals online. There are a few things you should know about searching on the internet. Take your time - The first photographers you will find are mostly because of large advertising budgets. This is not a bad thing but you should see all options available to you. Be specific - When using a search engine search for your state and professional wedding photographer. Your search may look like this: Massachusetts professional wedding photographer. (Use everything that is italicized.) The part in quotes will eliminate all general photographers and just focus on wedding ones. You could even add your city/town for just local results. (Add the town after the state; do not put in the quoted part.) I recommend using Google (www.google.com). Ok, so know you know how to find a wedding photographer. Now which one to choose? There are three primary factors that come into play when choosing a photographer; style, price, and personality. Style and price can usually be found on their website so we will start there. Style There are many styles such as traditional, photojournalism, candid, formal, etc. Some photographers offer only one style, but the best photographers can offer all of the styles and would normally incorporate them all into your wedding day coverage. It all depends on what you want. When viewing a photographers portfolio, remember these are their best shots. Always ask to see a full wedding. Price You can spend from $500 to $10,000 on a wedding photographer. The norm is to spend about 10% of your entire wedding budget on the photographer. Most photographers have packages that will include everything from the coverage to the album and final prints. Some photographers have complete al la carte pricing; if you are on a small budget this is the best way to go. You will be able select just what you want. There are two things you need, the coverage and the ability to purchase the negatives or high resolution digital images. Watch out with the coverage; many photographers will charge an hourly fee beyond their normal time offered. When you receive your negatives or digitals images you can print what you want when you want wherever you like. Of course as a professional I recommend using a professional photography lab for your prints but you could certainly use Wal-Mart and save a bundle. Just keep in mind that the quality would be slightly lower. As for your wedding album buy it yourself and put it together yourself. The cost of buying an album from the photographer is usually double the actual cost. Then of course doing it this way you can get it when you want and when you have the money. Visit www.albumsinc.com to view many albums and you can purchase them right online. Considering style and price select three top choices and schedule a meeting with them. There should be no cost for this. Before you meet with them you should pretty much want to hire them from what you learned about their style and price. Personality - You want to meet with them to see how they present themselves and if your personalities match. You want someone that is personable and nice so that they will get along well with you, your family, and friends. Never make the decision at the meeting always go home and think about it and wait until you have met with all three. The best in the business will let their work, pricing, and personality do all the talking. The meeting should be a casual conversation to get to know each other and discuss your wedding day in general. There is no need to go into great detail now. Some photographer will try to sell you their services; never get sold on something. Remember you already decided you like the work and price before you got there so what are they trying to sell? Just meet with them to get to know them. Once you make your decision contact the photographer and let them know. Also, be sure to contact the other two and thank them for their time but you have decided to use another photographer. They should be considerate and not try to continue selling you their services; if they do you made a good choice to go with the other photographer. With the photographer you chose go over the details on the phone and have them right up a wedding contract for you to review and sign. Do not pay a deposit until you have read and signed the contract (the photographer should sign the contract also). Read the contract thoroughly; everything you are supposed to receive should be written down and have the price and payment schedule. Always make note of their cancellation policy. Congratulations you found a photographer and have one scheduled. You should now schedule to meet with them about a month before your wedding date to go over the details again. Using Herbicides For Weed Control

May 14th, 2008 by stevenahazenboom

By Jack Greenwood Weed control is necessary throughout the year, as there is no specific season for growth of weeds. Effective control of weeds does not mean blatant use of strong herbicides. Doing so can have the adverse effect of damaging your lawn to an irreparable state. In addition, it can cause ecological imbalance, which have a negative impact on the community in the long run. Herbicides can be categories into two types. The first type is pre-emergent and the second type is post-emergent. As the name suggests, pre-emergent herbicides are used before weeds germinate and grow. On the other hand, post-emergent herbicides are used to kill existing weeds. Proper usage of the correct type of herbicides is critical to effective weed control. Depending on where you live, February to April of the year is considers a good time to start your weed control campaign. You should start with pre-emergent herbicides first. This type of herbicides can be used in conjunction with fertilizers and can last for about sixty days. The actual duration may vary as it depends on other factors such as the amount of rainfall. The more rain there is, the shorter the effective period. As herbicide is a form of chemical, you need to read and follow the instructions stated on the product label. Never use it in excess of what is being specified. It could destroy your lawn or hinder the growth of your lawn grass if you do not follow the instructions closely. For safety purpose, make sure you put on gloves when handling such chemicals. After sixty days, you can apply post-emergent herbicides together with your fertilizers. This should help you get rid of weeds that have taken root in your lawn. Monitor the situation for the next sixty days. You should be able to see some visible improvements. Otherwise, apply another round of post-emergent herbicides with your fertilizers and monitor the situation again. If the situation does not improve, apply another round of herbicides in the fall season. To make your weed control campaign more effective, you should also learn how to take care of your lawn with a combination of proper mowing, fertilization and watering techniques. Alternatively, you can also consider engaging a professional lawn care service to advise you on how to improve your weed control efforts.
